Everything you need to know without the details...

Welcome to the 5-Minute Breath Hold Trainer Challenge.

The Purpose of this challenge is to push your boundaries and to break your limitations. Most people can hold their breaths for roughly 1-minute to 2-minutes without too much difficulty.

However, going beyond this  threshold, the Pulmonaut embarks on a journey of breaking personal limitations.

The current non-oxygen aided records stand at 11 minutes, 35 seconds for men (Stéphane Mifsud, 2009) and 8 minutes, 23 seconds for women (Natalia Molchanova, 2011). (SOURCE)

At Pulmonautika, our aim is to provide Pulmonauts with opportunities to redefine their limitations which is why we’re working our way up to a 5-Minute Breath Hold Challenge!

For now, there are two challenges. The first is the, Bullet Breath featuring a minute breath hold, the original 2-Minute Breath Hold Trainer, for people just getting into this type of breathing.

The next video is the 3-Minute Breath Hold Trainer, consisting of 11-Rounds of Bullet Breathing leading into extending breath  holds. Each round, adding 15-seconds to the clock. There are instructions guiding you throughout the whole process with a beautiful soundscape and psychedelic visuals. The whole experience is a fully immersive breath journey.

We will add the 4-Minute Breath Hold Challenge once the 3-Minute video reaches 1,000 likes on Youtube and at least have 100 Pulmonauts complete the challenge. The same dynamics will apply for the following challenge

If you succeed in the Challenge, be sure to comment on the video to claim your spot in the Pulmonaut Hall of Fame!

1-Minute Breath Hold Trainer Explained

The 1-Minute Breath Hold Trainer, entitled “Better than Coffee” is an awesome introduction to breath hold training. With 3x Rounds of Bullet Breathing, you speed up the breath every cycle until you reach a fast pace. At the end of the breaths, you enter into the breath hold.

This particular breath hold video also contains binaural beats, which means it’s far more immersive when you use headphones.

This breathwork experience will make you feel energized, vitalized, and focused…hence the name Better than Coffee”

Best Practices include;

  • Lay down Flat on the back or find a comfortable seated position where you will expend the least amount of effort as possible.
  • Relax completely during the breath hold.
  • Exaggerate the Exhale to rid yourself of as much CO2 as possible.
  • YOU MIGHT GET DIZZY!
  • LISTEN TO YOUR BODY! If you can’t make it in one round, it’s okay – there are 11 of them!
  • If you need to take a recovery breath, jot down the time and try to break your personal record until you complete 3-Minutes.

2-Minute Breath Hold Trainer Explained

This POWERFUL 2-Minute Trainer takes you on 4x Rounds of Modified Tummo Breathing, where we speed up and slow down the breath, preparing for the breath holds. Here you have four opportunities to break 2-Minutes, which is simplified due to the excessive amount of breathing prior to each breath hold. This will expel CO2 and put you in the right frame of mind to break 2-Minutes with no air in the lungs.

Best Practices include;

  • Lay down Flat on the back or find a comfortable seated position where you will expend the least amount of effort as possible.
  • Relax completely during the breath hold.
  • Exaggerate the Exhale to rid yourself of as much CO2 as possible.

  • LISTEN TO YOUR BODY! If you can’t make it in one round, it’s okay – there are 11 of them!
  • If you need to take a recovery breath, jot down the time and try to break your personal record until you complete 3-Minutes.
